Go on

Dear all,

After the qualifying test, the road ahead should be clearer.

First, I'd like to congratulate everyone for making it this far. Regardless of what others say, GITIS has always been a challenging place. It's not easy to acquire a cognitive skill so late in our lives (considering that our brains have already "solidified" somewhat), not to mention such a difficult skill. You have all racked your brains, slaved away before your computers, and dried the tears more than once. Therefore, please do pat yourselves on the backs and give yourself at least two weeks of relaxation after all schoolwork has been completed (yes, I remember you still owe me homework). Indulge in ice cream, take a dip in the pool, treat yourself hours of sleep, and forget English and Chinese and anything that has to do with this horrendous institute.

For those of you who are going abroad, bon voyage. Make good use of your time, polish your English, but most importantly, enjoy life! Maybe you'll find romance, maybe you'll find a direction more worthy of pursuing, and maybe you don't want to give a damn to working memory or taking notes or multitasking anymore. Good for you. Whatever you do, you have to enjoy it!

For those of you who are going to dwell on working memories and taking notes and multitasking three months later, good luck (in a sincere way) from Damien the Devil (or Octopus). Make sure you enjoy being a communicator, even after the endless criticisms from the mean teachers. Make sure you rise victoriously after you've been run over by the speakers. Make sure you are pursuing something that is worth spending so much time and tears. T&I is not your entire life. If you feel miserable, then it's wrong. Go get another life. Tenacity can be applied elsewhere. You are all brilliant with a helluva future. Make sure you make a difference to this world by contributing what you are best at. Meanwhile, enjoy life, too! Practice when you should. Sleep when you should. And never try going on a diet when you are in GITIS.

Anyways, congratulations again. I've greatly enjoyed this year with you (hope it's mutual). You are my first group of GITIS students, and you shall have a very special place in my heart. Have a great summer, and please do hand in the homework in a timely manner so I can have my summer break, too! Thanks.

Damien the Angel

You will have a very special place in our hearts too.
